The scientific composition is silicon and oxygen atoms in a continuous framework of SiO4 silicon–oxygen tetrahedra, with every oxygen atom being co-valently shared between two tetrahedra, giving an overall chemical formula of SiO2. Quartz mineral basically differ from SIO2 in the sense that it contains Silica(SIO2) with certain other elements/impurities in a fixed composition.
