Solubility: At room temperature, PP does not dissolve in organic solvents, even after prolonged exposure. It only dissolves in aromatic and chlorinated carbides at temperatures above 80¬C. PP is a large crystalline polymer, providing greater chemical stability.

Mechanical Strength: PP has high mechanical strength, including tear and tensile strength. It is hard, strong, and non-flexible, making it suitable for yarn production but susceptible to tearing with small punctures.

Non-Toxic: Polypropylene is colorless, odorless, tasteless, and non-toxic. It burns brightly with a light blue flame, emitting a rubber-like smell.
Chemical Properties of PP Film

Burning Characteristics: When burned, PP emits a blue flame and smells like rubber. Like PE, it does not repel water, gas, or grease.

Chemical Inertness: PP is chemically inert with a melting point of up to 165¬C, making it an ideal material compared to PE.

Chemical Stability: Due to the flexible hydrogen atom at the C-3 level, PP is prone to oxidation and aging without stabilizers. Under diffused light, it remains stable for two years. Under direct light, it becomes brittle and degrades within months unless stabilized (e.g., with 2% soot), which can maintain stability for 20 years.

Food Packaging: PP is commonly used to make food packaging. Single-layer boxes made from PP can be microwaved for short periods (2-3 minutes).
