Paint Rollers

Paint Rollers are constructed with a handle, frame and freely rotating wire-frame cylinder, called a cage. The roller cover is a fuzzy or napped cylinder that slides over the cage into place, and rotates as the roller is pushed or pulled over the surface. For large, flat surface areas like walls and ceilings, Paint Rollers will help you get the job done in about half the amount of time it would take with a Paint Brush. Most painters use Paint Brushes for trim work and around windows and doors, then turn to Paint Rollers to fill in the big blank spaces.

Paint Rollers come in a wide range of widths - from 2" to 18", but the two most common sizes for interior jobs are 4" and 7" wide. The roller package will also identify the length of the roller cover's nap or pile, which can vary from 5mm to 20mm. Choose a shorter nap (11mm or 13mm) for painting smooth indoor surfaces, and large nap (15mm or 20mm) for rougher surfaces including textured walls, masonry and stucco.

Paint Rollers are also many special purpose rollers in different sizes and shapes for use with trim, corners and pipes, as well as self-feeding rollers that have a continuous supply of pressure-fed paint or manual-fill types for very large paint jobs.
