Oxymetholone

Oxymetholone is a synthetic derivative of dihydrotestosterone (DHT), classified as an oral anabolic steroid. Commonly known by its brand name Anadrol, it is renowned for its potent effects in bodybuilding. Bodybuilders often use oxymetholone during the off-season or bulking phases to achieve significant increases in muscle size and strength.

Originally researched by the pharmaceutical company Syntex, oxymetholone was introduced in 1959. It was found to be effective in treating conditions such as anemia, osteoporosis, and muscle-wasting disorders like those seen in HIV/AIDS patients.

In the early 1960s, Anadrol(Oxymetholone) became widely available for bodybuilders to use for cosmetic purposes. However, as its harsh side effects became more apparent, the FDA restricted its use in the mid-1970s. Today, Anadrol is primarily prescribed for the treatment of anemia and is one of the few steroids still FDA-approved for medical use, alongside Anavar, Testosterone, and Deca Durabolin.
