At the present, Vietnam is the country with the largest area and output of dragon fruit in Asia and is also the world's leading exporter of dragon fruit. Vietnamese Dragon fruit is exported to many different countries and regions. In addition to the traditional export markets, such as China, and Southeast Asia, Vietnamese dragon fruit is also exported to fastidious markets such as the US, Japan, and Singapore.

* Dragonfruit varieties:
+ White flesh dragonfruit: The most ubiquitous dragon fruit variety, it features bright red thin skin, white flesh, and black seeds. Its shape is reminiscent of an eclipse rather than a perfect circle. Known for its crunchiness and earthy flavor, along with its high acidity, this variety ranks as the least sweet among all dragon fruit types. Available year-round, it enjoys global popularity and is the most extensively cultivated variety.
+ Red flesh dragonfruit: Within the array of dragonfruit varieties, the red-fleshed one is easily distinguishable by its vibrant magenta color, both inside and out. The variety is slightly smaller, but it carries more weight due to its high water content, resulting in notably softer flesh, which distinguishes it from its white-fleshed counterpart. Its flavor leans towards sweetness, with subtle berry undertones. Unlike the white-flesh variety, the leaves, known as "bracts," exhibit a curvier appearance, adding to the fruit’s distinct charm.
+ Purple - Pink dragonfruit:
A combination of the red-fleshed dragonfruit with the white-fleshed variety, the purple-pink dragonfruit exhibits strong resistance to diseases and insects, making it an excellent choice for GlobalGAP-compliant cultivation and international export. Purple-Pink Flesh Dragonfruit is defined by its egg-shaped form, boasting a glossy pinkish-purple skin, and offering a solid, less watery flesh with a high flesh-to-fruit ratio. Its taste is a delightful blend of sweetness and mild tartness, intensifying as it ripens. Additionally, its flesh texture is firmer than its white flesh counterpart.
