Cagrilintide

Cagrilintide powder is a long-acting amylin analogue under development for the treatment of obesity and type 2 diabetes, now being developed in combination with the GLP-1 agonist semaglutide as a new drug CagriSema to achieve sustained weight loss in persons with overweight and obesity. Cagrilintide powder induces satiety by releasing amylin and delays gastric emptying to achieve weight loss.

Cagrilintide powder works as a long-acting acylated amylin analogue that has agonistic effects on amylin and calcitonin receptors. Amylin is a glucoregulatory pancreatic hormone. When cagrilintide injection, more amylin is produced, which is involved in delaying gastric emptying and inducing a feeling of fullness through the homeostatic and hedonic areas of the brain. It can also inhibit the release of glucagon after a meal, thereby achieving weight loss.
